More and more often you can see a small square code on a headstone — a QR. Point a phone camera at it, and a visitor lands on the memorial page of the departed. Let us look at how it works and why it is useful.
What happens when you scan it
A QR code is simply a link encoded as an image. On a headstone it leads to a digital memorial page that holds:
- the person's photographs;
- their biography and life story;
- dates and family ties;
- a place where loved ones leave candles and flowers.
Nothing needs to be installed — the page opens in the phone's usual browser.
